Cavalcade of Lights 2025

Cavalcade of Lights 2025

Every winter, Toronto’s iconic Nathan Phillips Square transforms into a glowing wonderland during the Cavalcade of Lights, a free festival that lights up the heart of the city with more than 300,000 energy-efficient LEDs. From November 29 through January 7, the square comes alive nightly from dusk until 11 p.m., creating a magical backdrop under City Hall’s twin towers.

Opening night is a highlight: a grand tree-lighting ceremony (at 6:30 p.m.), live performances, and family-friendly activities kick off the season in style. There’s a candlelight concert under the stars, a skating show, Diya-decoration workshops, and a special performance by DJ Classic Roots, all celebrating cross-cultural traditions and Toronto’s vibrant diversity. https://www.toronto.ca/explore-enjoy/festivals-events/cavalcade-of-lights/

Throughout the festival, visitors can lace up their skates and glide across the outdoor rink framed by shimmering lights.

On designated Saturdays (from December 6 to January 3), free skate rentals are available, courtesy of Desjardins, making the experience accessible to all.

The event also features interactive light and sound installations, like immersive domes and rotating frames, inviting guests to become part of the art itself.
